"You know, I love Philippine mangoes! We have them in Cuba and they taste sooo good. We call them Filipinos," said my Cuban classmate and new friend.
Really?, I said, and he was so enthusiastic in telling me all about it.
"The ripe ones, we open it up from the bottom by taking out a piece of the skin and then just peel it off. Then we take bites of the mango fruit. It's so yummy."
Later, he would look it up in his laptop and go to my workplace and show me --
"This is how they look like. I love them!"
Apparently, he was talking about our very sweet carabao mangoes. And because he was so happy about it, I shared with him my baon -- dried Philippine mangoes :)

who owns the animals?
During the country presentations from East Africa, the presenter from Tanzania informed us of a wrong impression -- Mt. Kilimanjaro is NOT in Kenya but in Tanzania.
Well, that was a surprise. All along I thought that it was really in Kenya.
Then our Kenyan classmate readily replied, "Well, it can still be seen from Kenya and we think the mountain is easier to get to from our side (or something to that effect)."
Hmmm... Then more questions about the animals in his powerpoint presentation that are indigenous to Tanzania instead of Kenya... Until one naughty classmate asked, pointing to a picture of animals grazing with Mt. Kilimanjaro as background:
"So who owns the migratory animals, Tanzania or Kenya???"
LOL.

picnic party
Heaven!
Spent a special day out on a picnic. So happy I can do it. So happy my family and friends were there to share it. Happiness comes in all forms: family, friends, food, cakes, green grass, trees, wind, sun, fresh air, new life.
Thank you, Lord.
Thank you, Lord, for a new year to accomplish all the things I need to do. Thank you for my family and friends who are there to support and love me all the way. Please also bless them as you have blessed me. Amen.
